Hephad International School is a peculiar school that teaches a child all about life starting from academic work to counselling and motivation. We teaches morals which enable child to stand tall amidst challenges no matter how tough life may be, hoping that there are ways out.
However, we ensure that every child knows how valuable they are to their generation.
Our play way method, child centered, jolly phonics way in teaching literacy and foundation computer coding made us exceptional amidst equal.
The Vision is to build intellectuals that can stands the test of time and also to save generations from illiteracy bondage which reflects their values: integrity, service, excellence teamwork and sustainability. The mission is to reduce illiteracy rate in Nigeria by 50% in the next 20 years starting from Ogun state via quality foundation building.
Humble Beginning
Picking Ajelanwa Olowoogbo village as our base was not by accident but for purpose. Ajelanwa is sitting on over 6,000 hectares of land in Atan, sokoto road, Ota, Ogun state, Nigeria where virtually all it residents are majorly farmer and artisan.
On our first visit in 2013, we discovered that no single school reside in the village and over 100 children sighted were not going to school.
The only government school which could serve as option is about 45minutes trek and 10min drive from the village.
However, this discovery sparked up our educational and capacity building drive of community building through education to liberate the illiterate from darkness to light.
In April 2017 precisely, the journey began inside Comrade and Mrs Oluwatosin Oladipos sitting room (the innovators) with only two pupils enrolment out of many we envisioned.
Our research indicated that, language barrier is one major factor that is militating against the turn out we envisage. We immediately employed language learning strategy for easy and effective communication to proffer solutions to some of their challenges and relationship saga, the proprietress said.
Our testimonial
Though it was difficult to convince the people that education is paramount and important, but our testimonial does the speaking and assurance through our second intake transformation. A 12 year old boy and his 5 years old brother, who were stack illiterate with language barrier was admitted into our citadel of knowledge and they started from tracing of alphabet and numbers.
To the glory of God after an academic session, they can speak, read and write effectively. Espara Fayoun is the exception boy and his brother Pastor Fayoun we are referring to. He was given scholarship to from basic 4 till he finished his basic class and some other 6 pupils respectively. It was a celebration galore during the 2020/2021 graduation when the boy graduated from basic class to college.
However, the testimony jamborine started attracting other villagers and residence of the community to enroll their wards.
To connect more, we dug a borehole to proffer solutions to the community water challenges, which saved them from the 98 feet deep well they are fetching water from.
Also we invited health practitioners to diagnose all the village children and administered immunization to those who needs it. Thanks to Glintsight Communication and Ganiyu Olowu Media Concept for being there at all times to support this great vision.
We have participated in many Excursion and Advocacy campaign in Lagos and Ogun State. ranging from Cleaner Lagos, Q-brat zoo visit, Blacksmith workshop visit, Laspak Lagos for Peace concert, Wonderkids Award, One Life Wonderland Amusement park Ota etc.
The Needs for Sustainability
1. Finance For Sustainability
2. Block of classrooms: we need at least a 7 blocks of classrooms to help us sustain the growth.
3. School Bus: we need a means of transportation to sustain our pupils involvement in advocacy learning outside their environment.
4. Equipping the classes and office (computers, printers, televisions, projectors, boards markers, pens and pencils, teaching aids, furniture, telephones, filing cabinets and electronics). To support the vision contact the brain magazine to connect them.
